Raw Goat's Milk vs. Fermented Raw Cow's Milk Kefir |
What is the difference
between the two?
1.) The fermentation process
a. Answers™
Raw Goat’s Milk Formula™ is fermented at cold temperatures (42 degrees). This
temperature favors the growth of certain types of probiotics as well as the two
added cultures (Lactococcuslactis and Leuconostocmesenteroides) and allows for
the continued growth of these beneficial bacteria even at refrigerated
temperatures.
b. Fermented
Raw Cow’s Milk Kefir™ is fermented at 80 degrees allowing the 200+ different
probiotics along with the added kefir cultures to ferment and grow. This
creates metablolites, nutrients, bacteriocins (natural antibiotics) and
probiotics, exponentially. The cultures added to make kefir are a combination
of bacteria and beneficial yeast. When bacteria and yeast ferment together they
create unique nutrients (very similar to kombucha). The yeast cultures added
(Saccromyces kefir) is known to help battle candida yeast infections.
2.) Fermented Raw Cow’s Milk Kefir™ is less expensive and requires
less to feed (half as much) due to the fermentation method used which provides
high levels of probiotics.
3.) Fermented Raw Cow’s Milk Kefir™ is higher in calories and fat,
therefore recommended for some of the large breed dogs who are consuming
strictly milk diets and struggle to keep weight.
Which product is easier for
my pet to digest?
1.) Equally easy to digest
a. It’s
often said that cow’s milk is difficult for pets to digest, such milk is
produced by Holstein cows, which is not easily digested due to changes in their
genetics from poor breeding practices. Our product derives from Jersey cow’s
milk (also referred to a Toy cows, due to their small size). Jersey cows do not
have the same genetic complications as Holsteins.
b. The
higher temperature fermentation breaks down the cow’s milk making it highly
digestible.
Is one product more
nutritious than the other?
1.) Each provide its own unique
nutrition
a. Goat’s
milk is naturally 32% more
concentrated than cow’s milk
b. Fermenting
cow’s milk at 80 degrees creates more nutrients than fermenting at 42 degrees,
providing benefits such as higher concentration of bacteriocins, more enzymes
and unique nutrients like the polysaccharide kefiran.
Why not make Goat’s Milk
Kefir?
1.) Goat’s milk is too low in fat to make
kefir. Kefir cultures (also referred to as kefir grains) are a combination of
good bacteria and beneficial yeast which require a higher fat content to
survive and thrive.
2.) It would make the goat’s milk cost
prohibitive
a. Fluid goat’s milk is more than twice as expensive as fluid cow’s
milk. Fermenting at 80 degrees requires special dairy equipment that is not
necessary when fermenting at 42 degrees adding considerable cost to the
product.
Which product should I chose
for my pet?
1.) Toy breeds, very small dogs and cats would do best on the Raw
Goat’s Milk Formula™. However if they are fighting a chronic infection or yeast
it is best to incorporate some the Fermented Raw Cow’s Milk Kefir™.
Medium and large
dogs should be fed a combination of the Raw Goat’s Milk Formula™ and the
Fermented Raw Cow’s Milk Kefir™. The two provide a wider range of nutrients
when fed together.
