Warmer Weather Safety

The Healthy Bark

With a lot of us starting to see warmer temperatures, this is a reminder to keep your pets and your self well hydrated. Animals cannot cool their bodies like we can. They do not sweat, that is why you see them pant, it is how they cool their self. As they become more over heated they pant harder, which than raises their heart rate. This is how pets can have a heat stroke much faster than we can.

Three Critical Problems With The Kennel Cough Vaccine (and what you need to do about them)

Do your research before you agree. Be informed, know before you say yes. It really is no different than the common cold we get. I have dealt with it with some of mine when I brought in a rescued animal. Support the immune and they will be fine.

What are Beneficial Nematodes by ARBICO Organics

This is a great way to rid your yard of pest without chemicals. I have used these and they really work. Since my dogs shared the same yard as my organic garden I needed something to work for both. This did the trick and very easy to apply. Reconsider what you can put down on your yard to make it safer for all.

Why use supplements

The Healthy Bark

When you think of supplements do not think of a once a day pill popped in your pets mouth. I am talking whole food supplements that support the body functions, the stress from the environment, and to balance the body.

What is people food?

The Healthy Bark
How many times have I heard the phrase "I never give my pet people food!" I always think, why, are you punishing them? The image that comes to mind is two groups of chickens at a farm and one group acting like they are better than the other because they are "People Chickens" not "Dog Chickens."

Homeopathy Medicine Chest

The Healthy Bark

Recently I have seen a chart going around to use medicine from your cabinet to treat illnesses in your pets. This is something I would not recommend. Many of these can cause more harm than good, especially over time. They will also wreck havoc on the immune system.

Sojo Pet Food

I can no longer support Sojo pet food as they are in the process of being bought by a company I do not like. As I have said on a few pages, if they change and it is not for the good I will not recommend them. Since the company buying them has been caught up in recalls, using facilities that are not up to my standards, and not as transparent as I like I must remove them. I stand by my ethics in anything I suggest. I have seen too many times a small company be bought and within a year we start seeing problems. So if you are feeding this I would suggest looking into Grandma Lucy's or Dr. Harvey's foods. You can acccess them through my "Shop Here" Page.

Thank you,

Allergies-Environmental

The Healthy Bark
Figuring out the trigger can be mind boggling, but with a little detective work you can get through this. Environmental allergies are triggered when your pet comes in contact with something that causes an allergic reaction. It can come on very fast such as swelling from a bee sting or immediate response to a vaccine, or develop over time. We think of hives when we talk allergies in people, however in pets their reaction depends on the severity of the allergen.
