Why use supplements

The Healthy Bark

When you think of supplements do not think of a once a day pill popped in your pets mouth. I am talking whole food supplements that support the body functions, the stress from the environment, and to balance the body.
Whole food supplements do more than just add some vitamins to your pets food, they nourish the body, help the body release built up toxins in the liver and kidneys, help balance, and improve digestion.

Herbs will always be my favorite way of adding what is missing from today's diets. If you are feeding dry kibble to your pets you really do need to add some supplements to your pets diet. If you are feeding a species appropriate diet you do as well.

There is a reason I have recommended that herbs be fed with raw foods and especially with dry kibble, it is because our foods have been depleted of nutrients do to the environment. Even free range organic is not as nutrient dense as it was thirty years ago. The environment has played a big role in this depletion.

For kibble feeders supplements may be the only Whole Food they are truly receiving on a daily basis. As dried up pieces of kibble MUST be supplemented with a vitamin mix since most the nutrients have been cooked away at the processing plant. These vitamin mixes are mostly made up of synthetic vitamins that pets have a hard time absorbing. This is also the reason many kibble fed pets have so many issues by the time the are three years old. They are eating a diet that lacks real nutrients that the body recognizes as food. They spend most their time trying to digest food like products that they were not meant to eat.

For raw feeders, unless they are eating the "Whole" animal there are things missing. When a wolf kills its prey they are getting ALL the nutrients from that meal. The blood, parts we think that are icky, and fluids that can not be left intact at processing. Even your cut up pieces are missing key nutrients that they would have received from the Whole animal. This is where supplements come in to help bridge the missing links.

Herbs have many benefits to help the body balance, aid in digestion, naturally detox, and support joint and organ function. Organic and wild crafted from responsible/ethical sources and harvesting practices, made in small batches, and has the NASC seal of approval.
